Beekeepers from the commune participated in a training session on agroecological sanitary management, supported by the municipality and with technical guidance from Sociedad Apícola Verkruisen (APIVERK).
On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, a successful training workshop was held in the commune of Chépica, Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins Region, with notable participation from ten local beekeepers. The event, organized by the Prodesal team of the Municipality of Chépica, took place at the municipal facilities and was supported by the presence of Mayor Don Fabián Soto, reaffirming the local authorities’ commitment to strengthening sustainable and responsible beekeeping.
The workshop included a theoretical lecture, followed by a practical session in which various treatments considered organic by the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) were demonstrated, promoting harmless and bee-friendly techniques.
The session was led by expert speaker Juan Muñoz from Apícola Verkruisen, who provided key tools for agroecological sanitary management and the implementation of good beekeeping practices.
“It is essential to carry out responsible sanitary management, avoiding products that jeopardize the safety of honey. Only in this way can we offer a safe and quality food,” said Juan Muñoz.
“Incorporating good practices and the Apiculture with Conscience approach not only improves production outcomes but also protects the bees and the environment,” he added.
Attendees greatly valued the training opportunity. One participating beekeeper commented:
“The content was very clear and useful for our fieldwork. I found the call to work under the Apiculture with Conscience approach very motivating. It helps us see beekeeping from a more responsible and professional perspective.”

From Apícola Verkruisen, we thank the commitment of the Prodesal team of Chépica and its mayor for the development of ethical, sustainable beekeeping aligned with the new Chilean Beekeeping Law.
