Why Are Bees So Important to the Planet?
The European bee (Apis mellifera) has been present in ecosystems for millions of years. Its work as a pollinator is essential for crop reproduction, ecological balance, and food security. More than 75% of the world’s food crops depend, at least in part, on insect pollination.
In Chile, the importance of bees is so high that they have been legally recognized as animals that must be protected, highlighting their ecological, economic, and cultural value.
